Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958 under very poor conditions. Her mother was an unsuccessful schoolteacher and actor, made a living selling automobiles while her father was an auto salesman. Jennifer was the youngest child from her extended family. She often accompanied her mother, who worked as a teacher at school, to theater performances. She found her very remarkable. Jennifer's father and mother split at the age five. Jennifer spent the bulk of her life within British Columbia, after her mother moved there with her four kids. Jennifer even though she'd been quite an artistic child, was not a very educated person. Because of her experience in the public schools of Canada, Jennifer was the subject of many bullying incidents. When she was in high school, her love for theater began to wane. In an effort to counter her loss of interest, her mother encouraged her participate as an extra in various plays. Her mother inspired all of her children to acquire an interest in performing arts. Then she began to act.
